A formal debate in Model United Nations (MUN) refers to the structured exchange of views among delegates, following predetermined rules of procedure. It involves individual presentations, arguments, and rebuttals in a sequential manner, allowing for the expression of country or individual positions. On the other hand, caucusing is an informal session where delegates engage in collaborative discussions, negotiation, and consensus-building. It provides a platform for interactive dialogue, alliance formation, and the development of joint solutions. While formal debates focus on individual speeches, caucusing fosters cooperation and facilitates dynamic exchanges to achieve common objectives in a less formal setting. Both components contribute to the comprehensive MUN experience, enabling delegates to showcase their knowledge, negotiation skills, and diplomatic acumen.
